Club Loose Advanced Day - June 27, 2008
This was my first advanced day with Club Loose. For these events, only group A and B drivers are allowed to participate.
The course consisted of a long straightaway followed by a left sweeper and a complete loop going to the right. It was similar to this month's Wednesday night event except there was a loop instead of just a right turn.
There were only about five cars drifting at the beginning of the event, so everyone was going to get a ton of runs. More people came as the night went on. A total of about 15 people ended up driving in the event.
I was doing pretty well getting through the course and was getting used to the third gear entry with a clutch kick initiation. Unfortunately, after my sixth run, my engine suddenly died as I was going back to my parking spot. I had a bad feeling that I had broken something from revving the engine so high.
I opened the hood and found oil everywhere. It looked like it was all coming from the front main seal, so I'm hoping that's the only thing that's wrong with it. I checked the oil level later on, and there was still pleny of oil in the engine, so hopefully there was no damage done. I was also able to start it without any problems.
My dad came to the track, and we towed the car back to his shop where it's sitting right now.
Overall, it was a pretty disappointing event since I had the opportunity to get so much track time but couldn't because of the engine troubles.
Hopefully, I can get this problem fixed before the July 12th advanced day on the road course at Englishtown.
