MSNE Autocross #2 (3/23/08) - March 28, 2008
The car performed pretty well in this event. It felt slightly better balanced and easier to turn into corners, which is probably due to the relocation of the battery to the trunk. I did the battery relocation before last week's event, but I couldn't sense as much of a difference because the grip level was so low in the rain.
A friend of mine co-drove the car with me, which helped me confirm the handling issues I've been experiencing. Like me, he felt that the car had low overall grip due to the old street tires, which made it easy to spin the tires coming out of corners or lock the front tires under braking. We ran similar times in the car.
The pictures are of him driving my car since the photographers did not take pictures of my run group. The shot with the car coming towards the camera shows how much the outside tire is leaning on the outer edge. I'll be installing camber bolts next week to correct this issue and give the car more front grip.
